I love it when a plan comes together!

I was once described as the Mary Poppins of accounting – restoring order from what was previously gobbledegook.

Secretly, I love the comparison, but more importantly, I love that we make the numbers make sense.

When I’m not number-wrangling, I love walking the dog, evening trips to the beach and making quilts, (badly).

There are three things that really make me love my job: The first is the challenge of a good logic puzzle.

The second is what I call the ‘Zen of Zero’ – that lovely feeling you get when you know that everything is perfect balance with nothing left over.

The third is in knowing that my skills are helping. Small businesses are truly the heartbeat of the country and each one is unique, so I love helping out the best way I can, by solving number puzzles and making sure everything matches.

When not on hold to HMRC, I enjoy travelling.

All of our staff have, or
are pursuing accounting qualifications.

The learning journey doesn’t stop with a certificate. All the team are Xero certified, working on regular CPD projects and making sure that when the finance world changes, we know about it.

I enjoy working at Accountability because we have such an interesting range of different companies employing our services.

Day to day, I enjoy the process of getting all the bookkeeping information recorded correctly and in the right place, tracking down anything which doesn’t make sense.

My favourite team outside work is my choir, I sing with them every week and love it!

All staff have the opportunity to work part-time and all with flexible hours. We love accounting, but we love living our other lives too!

Running payroll allows me to help companies with some of the more complex issues that surround payroll, things I wish I had known when I was running my restaurant.

I enjoy the monthly challenges that are thrown my way, and the constant need to keep learning in more detail about all things payroll and pension.

Outside of work, I have a newfound love of gardening - growing lots of vegetables, fruit and herbs - which inevitably ends up with me sitting back at the end of day with a glass of wine admiring my handiwork.

I enjoy working at Accountability as we focus on our client’s needs, and I like the challenge of implementing new programs to help them make the preparation of their accounts accurate and stress free.

It is very rewarding to know that you have helped your client to make sound financial decisions for the future or their business.

I live an active, healthy lifestyle. I enjoy going to the gym or taking a run in nature. I also love spending time with my family.

We believe in providing new challenges and a variety of client work.

I enjoy making sense of numbers and solving the challenges that our clients face.

Each company we look after is different and I get to draw on varied accounting skills - which certainly keeps me on my toes!

I like reading or listening to audiobooks in my spare time. I’d recommend Hanya Yanagihara’s “A Little Life” - it’s not for the faint-hearted, but nonetheless worth a read!

All staff have regular 121 meetings with line managers.

One of the key things I like about this job is I get to see first hand the good we do for people’s businesses.

Coming from a background of working in huge companies - where you’re just another tiny cog in the machine - being able to make a difference and see someone’s business grow is really rewarding.

Outside of work, I’m a keen nature lover and enjoy going for nice walks to meet dogs. The office is in a beautiful location - another reason why this job is great!

We offer regular CPD and all staff have a CPD plan in place with funds to support it.

I love working at Accountability because here we help businesses grow.

What makes my work meaningful, and fulfilling, is that I can force numbers to talk by making sense of each clients’ data and help them to make informed decisions.

I love to cook, it’s an important aspect of my country’s culture. It’s about gathering around a table with family and friends, and catching up while enjoying a home-cooked meal. My favourite Persian dishes are spiced fish and herbed rice (named Sabzi-Polo and Mahi) and a traditional bean and noodle soup (Ash-Reshteh), which is great for cold, winter nights.

We’ve developed a clear progression plan - so all staff know they have scope to develop their role should they wish to.

As a recent returner to work I am enjoying being part of a very focussed and friendly team here at Accountability, whilst learning a new skill.

I am a keen runner and love nothing better than getting muddy out trail running with friends or my dog!

I think balance is important in all areas of life. I find life is simpler and better organized that way – so what better career for me than accountancy!

At Accountability I enjoy learning about local businesses and how best we can support them. I’m currently working on clients in the art & print industries, alongside studying for the AAT qualification.

In my free time, I love playing games such as Uno and Catan - they get very competitive in my house though!

If you’ve ever called Accountability Edinburgh, I bet you’ve heard my voice!

My role as Operations Manager involves compliance, marketing and practice management.

You may recognise me from before - I travelled Australia for a few months - but now I’m back with a new sense of purpose! I’m currently studying towards my CIPD Level 3 qualification so I can support our growing team.

I enjoy working at Accountability because we have a close relationship with our clients. This helps us to make the best decisions for them as we understand their values and goals they have for their business.

Working while studying for my AAT qualification has helped me apply what I learn in textbooks to real life bookkeeping processes.

In my spare time, I go to the gym and lift weights. I like exercising and moving about after sitting at a desk all day!

I am enjoying being part of the Accountability Team because I am surrounded by passionate people who truly care about the work they produce - myself included!

My favourite thing about the job is the satisfaction from getting to the root of what is going wrong for a client, and being able to tidy it up and sort it out for them. I think all accountants get joy from having accounts all neat and reconciled - and I’m the same!

In my spare time I am usually travelling in my campervan with my husband or spending time with friends and family. I love to be busy in and outside of work, and am always up for new and exciting things!
